关于
Graceful among the residential lanes of Doha in the municipality of ad Dawhah, Nasser Ali Majid al Badr Mosque was built through the pious endowment of a Qatari citizen whose family is known across the capital for its support of Qur'an memorisation programmes, charitable kitchens, and educational projects. Qatar rose within a few generations from a small pearling society on the western shore of the Gulf into one of the wealthiest states in the world, and its rulers have encouraged the tradition in which every neighbourhood should have its own mosque, built through the generosity of local families, so that no resident walks more than a short distance to reach congregational prayer.
The al Badr family name, derived from the blessed battle of Badr in which the Prophet Muhammad, peace and blessings be upon him and his family, led the small band of believers to a decisive victory in the second year after the Hijrah, carries with it the memory of the earliest Muslims whose courage and sincerity became the measure by which all later generations judge themselves. Dedicating a mosque bearing that name plants in every Qatari generation the aspiration to follow the companions of Badr in their devotion, their simplicity, and their willingness to defend the community of faith.
Architecturally the masjid follows modern Qatari mosque design, which blends classical Islamic forms with Gulf adaptation. A pale sandy stone facade lifts into a single ribbed minaret, arched windows admit a softened desert light, and a central dome sits above the main prayer hall. Inside, the prayer hall is cooled by powerful air conditioning through the long Gulf summer, patterned carpets in soft greens and golds cover the floor, and the mihrab carries elegant Qur'anic calligraphy by local artisans. A separate section for women is arranged behind a carved wooden screen, and a small library offers copies of the Qur'an in several languages, including English, Urdu, Tagalog, and Bahasa Indonesia, recognising the diverse expatriate community of the capital. Accurate daily prayer times for Fajr, Dhuhr, Asr, Maghrib, and Isha at this Doha masjid appear on this page for every resident and visitor in Qatar.
