Kuhusu

Nestled beside the Ahmadia Madrasha in the town of Nazirhat within the Fatikchari upazila of Chittagong district, the Nazirhat Ahmadia Jame Mosjid serves a bustling congregation of farmers, students, and small traders at the foot of the green Sitakunda hills. Chittagong, known in Bangla as Chattogram, has welcomed Muslim merchants since at least the ninth century, when Arab traders called it Shetgang and stopped on the long sea route between Aden and Guangzhou. The famous scholar Shah Jalal, who brought the faith to Sylhet in the fourteenth century, is remembered across Bengal with deep love, and Fatikchari itself lies along trails once walked by generations of travelling preachers.

Madrasha education occupies a precious place in Bangladesh's Islamic life. The Nazirhat Ahmadia Madrasha, attached to the mosque, teaches the classical sciences of Qur'an memorisation, tajwid, Arabic grammar, hadith, tafsir, and fiqh, producing teachers who go on to serve villages and towns throughout Chittagong, Cox's Bazar, and the Chittagong Hill Tracts. The Prophet Muhammad, peace and blessings be upon him and his family, taught that seeking knowledge is an obligation upon every Muslim, and the scholars of Bengal have preserved that duty across centuries of change.

Architecturally, the mosque blends Mughal memory with Bangladeshi practicality. Pale pink walls trimmed in white, three domes above the prayer hall, slim corner minarets, and ornamental parapets recall the older mosques of the Sultanate of Bengal, while modern ceiling fans, loudspeakers, and wide verandahs accommodate the large Jumu'ah crowds that arrive from the surrounding villages.

Accurate daily prayer timings for Fajr, Dhuhr, Asr, Maghrib, and Isha at Nazirhat Ahmadia Jame Mosjid are listed on this page, together with the Fatikchari address, a map pin, and hospitable notes for visitors arriving from Chittagong city, Ramgarh, or the hill routes leading into Khagrachari. During Ramadan the courtyard fills with tables of haleem, piyaju, muri, and sweet jilapi offered to every worshipper and passing traveller, while tarawih evenings resound with the clear voices of young hafizes trained in the adjoining madrasha. Any guest arriving from the plains of Comilla or the beaches of Cox's Bazar is warmly invited to pray, to sit with the humble Bengali congregation, and to remember in quiet supplication the unseen teachers whose patient labour keeps the lamp of knowledge burning across the villages of greater Chittagong.
