Jumu'ah gatherings swell considerably, with lorry drivers, market traders from Londiani, and labourers from the nearby tea estates joining for the weekly sermon delivered in Swahili with short sections in Arabic. Ramadan is especially busy, with many travellers breaking their fast at the masjid before continuing their journeys, and volunteer cooks providing dates, tea, and simple meals. The mosque also assists travellers in distress, offering short term shelter, basic medical referrals, and contact with local charitable families when funds are lacking. Visitors are encouraged to contribute to the donation box, respect the rhythm of daily prayer, and treat the building as the refuge of prayer and hospitality that it has long represented to the weary on Kenya's great road. A small notice board near the entrance posts warnings about road conditions on the descent from the summit, approximate departure times for minibuses heading west, and contact numbers for local medical clinics, functioning as a quiet community bulletin for travellers passing through, and the imam keeps a small first aid kit and a prayer book of travel supplications available for any weary driver who asks.
