Rising in the historic brass manufacturing city of Waterbury, Connecticut, the Albanian American Cultural and Islamic Center serves one of the oldest Albanian diaspora communities in the United States. Waterbury welcomed its first Albanian immigrants during the final decade of the nineteenth century, when young men from the region of Korca travelled across the Atlantic to work in the great brass mills that once earned the city the proud nickname of the Brass Capital. Their descendants have worshipped, married, and been buried here for more than five generations, and this centre represents the religious heart of their long American story.

The congregation traces its spiritual heritage to the teqe, mosques, and scholarly gatherings of southern Albania, a land of wooded mountains, olive groves, and small farming towns where Islam took root during the Ottoman centuries. Albanian believers carried with them a particular love for the recitation of the Qur'an in a gentle, unhurried style, a devotion to salawat upon the Prophet Muhammad, peace and blessings be upon him and his family, and a deep attachment to the Companions, among them Bilal ibn Rabah, may God be pleased with him, whose story of perseverance under hardship resonates with every family that rebuilt its life far from the land of its birth.

The building houses a spacious prayer hall, classrooms for children, a community kitchen, and a social hall where weddings, funerals, and national holidays such as Flag Day are marked by gatherings that bring together three and four generations under one roof. On Fridays the khutbah is delivered partly in Albanian and partly in English, and during Ramadan the evening iftar often features the beloved pie known as byrek, along with rice pilaf, stuffed peppers, and the honey drenched pastry baklava.

This page provides accurate daily prayer times for Fajr, Dhuhr, Asr, Maghrib, and Isha at the centre, together with its full address in Waterbury, a clear location map, and practical notes that help both Albanian Americans returning to their ancestral mosque and visitors arriving from other cities across New England to find their way through the wooded Naugatuck Valley and join the Friday congregation at any time of the year with ease, warmth, and confidence throughout every New England season.
